Kaiju Big Battel Kaikeshi Review + More!

Welcome back, everyone, to the U&R blog!  I am already back with some more rapid-fire reviews!  Holy smokes, I'm surprised too!  But don't get used to that becoming a catchphrase around here.  I have a long way to go to be rapid-fire around here, and I don't have it trademarked.  All the same, let's dive into things!

Kaiju Big Battel, the bastion of giant monster wrestling, has always had a place in my heart.  I think it was nearly fifteen years ago, since the first time I was pleasantly perplexed at the TV or computer screen.  It was Godzilla meets WWE, but it's gone a far beyond that now.  Today we look at one of their newer endeavors - Kaikeshi mini-figures!

Moving into Kinkeshi-inspired mini-figures is a play no one was surprised and everyone wanted.  There really couldn't have been a more natural fit.  Kaiju Big Battel had already incorporated so much Japanese culture into their wrestling shows, it sort of felt like it was only a matter of time.  After a successful Kickstarter last year, it had finally became a reality, and earlier this month a grabbed a view blind-boxes to see how everything turned out.

Upon removing them from their fast food apple pie box, I was immediately impressed.  Absolutely on-point, in almost every way.  Sculpted by George Gaspar, of former October Toys and now Double G Toys, the wrestling crew were handled and formed with mind-blowing accuracy and detail.  George kills it here, blasting the leather right off the ball, before bouncing it over the home-run fence.  My only regret is that I decided to dip my feet in first with just a few twists of the gachapon machine.  I should have gone deeper, as I even found a glow-in-the-dark chase in the lot.  And at five clams a pair, that's a hell of a deal.

I was about to hand my debit card over to the good people at Kaiju Big Battel, but then I found through Instagram that Double G Toys has the complete set for sale in an exclusive purple.  I weep for my bank account.  Follow both links below, if you're looking for a purple set, a flesh set, or even dastardly, both.

Kaiju Big Battel Kickstarts Kaikeshi!

I've been a huge fan of Kaiju Big Battel.  I remember years and years ago, back when I still lived with my parents, I would visit their forum and website almost daily to keep up to date with story lines and events.  At one point, I had almost won the dismembered arm of Mota Naru through an essay contest.  I was disqualified due to the exceedingly long length, a result that surprised no one.  Since then, I've dropped back in here and there, always surprised to see where and when it pops back up, whether it was the Xbox 360 Hanger Event or the Twitch Takeover last year, and now it's rearing close to it's 25th Anniversary.  It seems almost unreal.

To celebrate this monumental achievement, Kaiju Big Battel is creating MUSCLE/Kinkeshi inspired keshi mini-figures of their own absurd wrestlers.  It's named Kaikeshi, and it couldn't have been a more no-brainer for the brand to do.  The Kaiju Big Battel already heavily borrows from popular Japanese culture, from anime to video games to, of course, giant monster battles.  Taking it to one, if not the largest, if not the only, pro wrestling anime franchises in Japan is the most logical stomp for Kaiju Big Battel's marketing, one that first realized 15 years ago.

With the help of Onell, Kaiju Big Battel now has the hook-up for production.  It's just a matter of ponying up the clams to get the machines steaming and grinding.  That's where Kickstarter and our support comes in.

Currently at the time of this article, there is still time to make this a reality.  20 days are left, and if you're one to claim you're a Kaiju Big Battel enthusiast, now is a good time to get some one-of-a-kind items, as well as Kickstarter exclusives.  But equally interesting, I feel, is that everyone with the slightest interest can support this project and still leave with product.  As low as two bucks, you can get a random mini-figure cranked out the giant mechanical vending machine and shot into your mailbox.  You don't see that on Kickstarter.  It's usually thank you's until you're committed to buy the whole set.  For those who like Kaiju Big Battel, but maybe not the idea of eleven figures bopping around their desk, this is their alternative.  Cheapskates!  Collectors!  Completionists!  Hobo with a couple spare wrinkled dollars!  Literally anyone with a mailbox can find their own level of support!  Currently, it's two-thirds of the way to their 15k goal, but every dollar or pair of, counts, so follow the link below and bring some monster mayhem into your home.

Kaiju Big Battel Keshi Prototypes!

Released on their Facebook page, the people at Kaiju Big Battel have some little rubber miniatures in the works, and they looks pretty gnarly.

If you new to Kaiju Big Battel, they are an independent wrestling federation out of New York, but to just call them a wrestling company would not cover exactly what they did.  They are a mash-up of many Japanese influences, from giant Godzilla-like monsters, to armored Power Ranger-like heroes, and everything in between.  It's exactly as wild as you can imagine, so you definitely need to take a good at them to believe the hype.

I've been a fan of Kaiju Big Battel for years now, even back when they were doing business out of Boston.  I remember when there was two Plantain brothers and Silver Potato wasn't evil.  In fact, it might be safe to say, my Kaiju Big Battel DVDs outnumber all the other wrestling DVDs I own, so as you may guess, I am pretty psyched to see one of my favorite wrestling companies find themselves into tiny rubber wrestling figures as well.

Above are pictures of Dr. Cube, the main villain, and Baby Skydeviler, and both of them are looking really awesome.  This is probably because the have been through the hands of George Gaspar of October Toys, who always does really great work with whatever he does.

These guys are still only works-in-progress, so expect more updates when they are released, but do yourself a good deed today and check out the craziness that is Kaiju Big Battle at their website below.
