FreeKarateChops Sluggo Bootleg Drop!

Feel how you want about the bootlegging scene, but one thing you can't deny is how hard it actually is to make a good-looking resin figure out of bits and pieces.

Luckily, FreeKarateChops' 8 year old apprentice has a natural knack for it, with the creation of this all-new character Sluggo.

Sluggo isn't just staying staying in his slimy nest, but he's also being released upon the world this weekend at FreeKarateChops web-store.

Scott Wilkowski X Jeff Lamm Mini Greasebat!

Produced by Monster Worship, these two collaborations between kaiju designer Jeff Lamm and skeletal master Scott Wilkowski are more than absolutely stunning.

Using the original design of Greasebat, Scott sculpted what this character's skeletal body would look like, and with the double cast style that has made him famous in the art toy scene, created these two amazing minis for the upcoming Monster Worship art show that's happening later today, 6pm EST, in Beacon, NY.

As much as I absolutely adore these guys, I know there is no way these guys could be mass-produced to fit inside my budge.  As it stands now, at least to my best understanding, these two are sitting as art pieces for sale at an art gallery, so if these are must-haves for you, take that you'll be paying art gallery prices into consideration.

I really expect nothing less from these miniatures, however.  When sometimes I talk about the beautiful simplicity of keshi, yet perfecting the slug format, these two personify that extra mantra.  From the edible-looking translucent fades, to the glowing skeletal remains cast inside, and even to how symmetrical and balanced the design is, you can see it's more art than toy.

Day Of The Slug Wave 2 Drop!

One toy series we unfairly overlook quite a lot here is the beloved classic Mini Boglins.  I have a few myself and nothing really captures that gross-factor and silliness like those classics, but the throwback homage Day of the Slug by BigManToys certainly fits the bill as well.

Raisin The Dead Crystal Drop!

Bootlegger madman, The Angry Beast, has been flashing some impressive looking resin all over Instagram.  This one in particular, called Raisin the Dead, because he's equal parts Californian Raisin mini-figure and toy skull, had me in all sorts down memory lane.

I never was big into the Californian Raisins.  As an 80's kids, I remember their holiday specials were almost a must in December, but even still, I really couldn't be bothered to pull away from the staples of He-Man, Transformers, TMNT, and all the classic action figures stuffs.  They instead remind me of my grandparents.

I'm not sure if every family's parents or grandparents have that tiny collection of inherited toys, hanging out on the windowsill or placed on the edge of a desk. Some may even still have a box nearby for the grandchildren to paw through, just in case.  Either way, I'm pretty sure my grandparents weren't the only ones to have random figures laying around, and I distinctly remember a collection of Californian Raisin mini-figures, just like the one used for his arms and legs here.

Scott Wilkowski Micro Mail-Away!

I admit, as much as I would enjoy be the first on a topic or even provide early drop news for readers, sometimes I'm just not anywhere that good.  It's hard, but a fun challenge, one I don't take extremely serious.

Today is different though!  Today I have a drop that is open for readers until the hot sweltering days of mid-summer.

Scott Wilkowski is throwing it back old-school.  You should already know him from his amazing see-through resin figures with his own skeletal sculpture inside, but he does all kinds of amazing work outside that too.  Right now, he's doing a classic send-away program, just like you'd see in the back of a comic book or cereal box.  Send him some greenbacks in the mail and expect a goodie sometime later.

This is not just radical, but a pretty good deal as well.  I can't resist the opportunity to do a mail-away like this, even with the thoughts of my parents saying I shouldn't send cash through the mail.  I mean, sure, I could write a check, but that's too safe.  Nope, I'm shoveling driveways and doing chores until I score that ten spot and shoving every last crinkled bill in an envelope, just for old times sake!

PayPal is an ingenious system, and makes hobbying a thousand times easier and safer.  99% of the time I swear by it, but this certainly falls in the one percent, and I suggest everyone gives it some consideration too.

Like I said before, this is also a gnarly deal.  Ten bucks, an envelope, and a stamp gets you a minifigure of this King Kong looking character, possibly handmade and hand-poured by the artist himself, with no shipping charge.  As you can see from the picture, there are many colors available and who knows what you'll find in your mailbox, but that's all part of the excitement too.  Even if you're a hardcore collector, you can't imagine there are too many around of each variant.
