Glyos Bit Figs Go On Sale At Culture Pirates Webstore!

If I titled this 'SpiderEarth: the Hypocrite', I don't think it would be the first time.  I don't think it would be the second time or maybe even the third.  I've been so awful about contradicting myself from 2014 to this point, I don't know if that makes me the worst person imaginable for politics or the best, and this election year is making it even harder to figure out.

That aside, the point I wanted to make was that I've always been a supporter of the men and women in the vending machine business.  Vending machine toys have always been an important part of my nostalgia with keshi mini-figures growing up.  I've said this before, but I really doubt my MUSCLE/Kinnikuman mini-figures were legit.  I'm almost sure they were vending machine bootlegs, as I distinctively remember the Monster In My Pocket were in the toy isle and the strange pink wrestlers were in the machines on the way out.  So, as an extension of that, I do still drop a quarter or few in some machines carrying mini-figures.  It's not always worth the price, but a part of me hopes that someone will notice and stock more things keshi-like.  And I would implore you to do the same, except HOLY CRAP some really hot news dropped today.

Not all that long ago, I covered Onell Design's desperate attempt to atone for their multi-parted sins.  In an alternate dimension I refuse to admit is not this one, Glyos has nearly collapsed financially, like a bunch on jerks with wax wings.  They depended too heavily on their stupid pegs and stupid interchangeable parts, and when the great cosmic keshi lord (a slug I had mentioned before) gazed upon them, they nearly escaped it's ultimate wrath.  And in this alternate reality, where one stupid blogger is not a stupid blogger, but a king of keshi-dom, my slug-molded army attacked the Glyos empire in a giant domino effect of knocking each other over until the walls were breached, we soundly defeated them.  Now, as slaves to Keshi Drop and the great cosmic keshi lord, they make Bit Figs and all is right with the world.  Hooray!

Enough History for one day.  What I actually came to share was that despite the news that Bit Figs were hitting vending machines near you, they are surprisingly hitting the Culture Pirates web-store near you too.  And while I first got the feeling of 'Oh, man, there goes the fun of it!', there's nothing stopping anyone from enjoying both sides of it.  In fact, that's probably the best bet.  Although sets are super affordable (less than a flimflam for each figure), you'll be saving on shipping costs hitting up the vending machines.  The flip side of that however, is that Culture Pirates have all the limited editions and extra loot.  So it might be one of those things that you get your commons from one place and your chases from another.

Franken Toys' Creeplings LIVE On Kickstarter!

Hey, K-Droppers!  Welcome back and hopefully you haven't melted completely away with either the heat or a new school year.  Today I am pleased to have been informed by a member of  the LittleRubberGuys toy forum of a new mini-figure toy line looking to hit production costs with funding by Kickstarter.

I'm personally unfamiliar with Franken Toys, but I am very interested in seeing what they have to offer, considering you can tell some of their characters hit that Trash Pack button for me.  Right now, I am funding their project at a level that will score me ten Creeplings for about two clams a piece, which is pretty much the standard amount nowadays, and I seriously suggest you take the time to go through their campaign page and consider helping Creeplings become a reality too.

Detective SpiderEarth Is Back On The Case! OTMFG Style!

Okay, before we dive head first into this tinfoil hat party, like only us Internet dwellers can do, let me preface this acknowledging how sensitive the phrase 'mysterious package' can be nowadays.   The media sure does love their tag lines and wordplay, but I hope I don't really have to reassure you, when I'm talking about a 'mysterious package' here, it's either related to a weird mini-figure unboxing or genitalia.  If Electric Monarchy is invited to the party, it may not be mutually exclusive.

That aside, my top two things I enjoy when it comes to keshi mini-figures are unboxing them, second, and unboxing them from mysterious packages, first, and luckily today I received one from October Toys and it had me giddy like a young school spider.

I first have to apologize.  I covered the released date for the new BrainWaves variants, both seen the picture here, and as I really enjoy the miniature and my almost complete set of it, but when this package arrived, it quickly cannibalized my attention.  I was looking forward to added previously convention exclusive miniatures to my - - - Wait a second, what is all this?!?!

That was my serious reaction.  Now, October Toys is really great about sending some extra goodies with your order.  There are usually trading cards, promotional material, and sometimes even an extra miniature.  Even with this special Joe Whiteford release, I figured the new trading card would be there, but there was a ton of extra stuff.  That's when I strapped the tin foil hat on.

This is not my first October Toys order.  I'm not sure I could give you a number, but I've tried hard not to miss one for the last few years I've been reintroduced to the keshi community.  I've received the extra goodies.  I have a collection of cards and posters.  Usually when I get the order, everything is pretty much as expected.  It's a common order that would you get from a million other stores online.  You get the product, the receipt, maybe some little goodies, and some promotional material tempting you to order again, but nothing really seems intentional.  Intentional, as in subtly trying to tell you something through puzzles and teasers.

Understand that when I opened this package, it wasn't just loose paper and minis.  Things were, at least they very much seemed, intentionally placed.  The first picture gives you a clear idea of what I mean.  Of course the Brainwaves and cards were there, and they certainly look awesome, but what is going on here with the other stuff?  It was a small black felt bag tied to a rather surprisingly high-quality key keychain.  This is what I believe the crux of this mystery and puzzle.

Of course, I'll concede to coincidence, but let me pass a few logic nuggets through you first.  Firstly, this key is not a cheap aluminum key with stickers on it.  It's a heavy duty, weathered, thing with either laser engravings or some other permanent customization of their logo and company name.  And that's what is so bizarre:  a heavy key advertising a toy company.  It's a great giveaway, but it must have been expensive to produce and to ship.  Doesn't seem very practical.  It's not a toy advertising a toy company or a key advertising a locksmith, but just as a said before.  And it was tied to this black bag. TIED!  Intentional, I'm telling you!

Never has anything ever came in with a personal knot, keeping certain items attached during the shipping process.  Really, why would there ever be a need to?  Unless it was - - - You know!  And the contents inside the mysterious black felt bag are the answer to the puzzle, but I sadly I think I'm grasping a straws further than before.  There are a couple things however.

There were three things inside the bag:  a sticker, a little round magnet, and a mini-figure.  More free goodies, sure, and I'm thankful if it was all coincidence, but I'm really not in that mind-space.  Upon closer inspection, the new Mini Gwin minifigure is not just a white variant, but more hollow and made with a hard plastic.  Unfortunately, I didn't picture it for you, but there is a hole through the bottom that reminds me of what Trash Pack does to save material, but it's certainly not PVC like other times.  It's a free miniature, so I'm not complaining about material and production, but making a mental note because I think it's meaningful.  The sticker is a shiny black sticker that plainly reads 'I Play With Toys' which had roots with Toy Break.  It's not something terribly strange or uncommon, but I think this too means something.  Finally, the last piece is this small button magnet.  This might sound crazy, but uncovering the meaning of this magnet is the answer we are all looking for.  Looking at this magnet, it has a blue-skinned monster character on it, and I do not recognize it.  I have no idea what it's referencing.  It's not from their toy lines, at least as far as I know, and it only resembles George in glasses alone, so it's not even a caricature of sorts either.  It could be a random fun present from a magnet/button sponsor, but it reads the October Toys website on the edge.

So, taking this all in, here is where my brain is.  This was all a teaser for a new toy line being announced soon.  The white Mini Gwin is a hard, hollow, plastic like a board game piece.  The sticker suggest this could be something you don't necessarily collect and display, but also play with.  The magnet, the answer to it all, I feel is a picture of a character from the new toy line, whoever it is.  October Toys has been working on an collectible, customizable, action figure game, and I think with the success of Battle Tribes this summer, I think they might be thinking it's time.

Mega Post-Kansas City Comic Con MWOTR Drop!

Hey, everyone!  My apologies if this comes off a little rushed and/or sloppy, but this one hit me out of left field.  There may have been an announcement somewhere, but I think I missed the memo.  That's on me, guys, but hopefully you're following everyone on social media as well and didn't get sidelined to the back of the line like me.

It appears the crew of Mystical Warriors of the Ring are back from KCCC, because live, at this very moment, everything they released there is now up for grabs online from their web-store.

That includes the two new colorways for Goliath, both in a lime green and an albino white, but also some rare pours of both Talos and Barker in various urethane colorways.  For fans of one-of-a-kind prototypes and very rare resins, these guys are the ones to grab up, but keep in mind, these are in very low supply, so you have to act very quick.  Maybe even the quickest, consider I'm so slow to the take today.

OTMFG August '16 BrainWaves Lime Green & Purple Drops!

Welcome, K-Droppers (that name is so awful, it just may stay...) to Keshi Drop!  Maybe a few of your don't know, but my online moniker is SpiderEarth and I'm pretty much the worst toy blogger in the world.  Even still, I really do appreciate the recent burst of love of support over social media I've been receiving, as well as the boost of views all across the globe.  It's very humbling and always keeps things exciting, but let's not drone on about that all day.

Some quick release information today!  October Toys are going back to an old trend (one that I've loved) by having monthly OTMFG releases, usually on or around the 15th of the month.  We've seen new mini-figures and we've seen new color variants of old, but it was always exciting and fun to see what's next.

This month we see a slew of BrainWaves and OTMFG love, with the flagships of the release being the previously San Diego Comic Con exclusive purple and the new lime green variants.  This really hits the OTMFG spot for me, as I've always enjoyed George's work and not being able to reach a lot of these conventions has me more or less begging mules and praying this stuff hits online shops.  We're doubly lucky, not to get a chance to catch the purple now, but an attractive lime green one as well, not to be confused with their recently released slime green colorway.

The swag doesn't end there either.  Fans of BrainWaves creator, Joe Whiteford, will be excited to know a new art card will be send with these guys, and if you're just a fan of OTMFG in general, they will be releasing an enamel pin of their logo as well.  Tons of cool stuff, and all very much welcoming to see from October Toys, who have been having somewhat of a quiet year. I'm sure big news is on it's way though, so it's always a good idea to visit their site for more information or just to check up.

Leaked MWOTR Albino + Metallic Lime Goliaths For KCCC!

Hey, everyone, SpiderEarth back with just a quick news blurb.

A little while ago, the camp over at Mystical Warriors of the Ring have been teasing some announcements of plenty for their booth at the Kansas City Comic Convention coming August 12-14.  Part of the secrets were two mysterious colorways of the Goliath mini-figure.

MWOTR never suspected today one of their most confidential secrets would be leaked all over Instagram, but alas, it appears headquarters was hacked once again (It wasn't me this time!  I swear!) and now the cat's out of the bag about one of the coolest variants for Goliath.

A white colorway, SpiderEarth?  Big friggin' deal!

Fine, I'll take yours!  But really, it looks from the pictures it could be a shiny metallic white, more like a pearl than a flat white.  Also, some extra care and detail went into this white colorway.  To wrap up the whole package, Goliath has received red eye paint applications akin to other albino animals.  A cool little detail.

SpiderEarth's Dreaded Glyos Talk! And Mobs! And Bit Figs!

Long time readers, like maybe as far back as a year and a half ago, may remember... ...

Hold up, let me rephrase this.  Okay, so no sensible human being on this planet but me remembers this little tidbit of detail.  In fact, maybe I never actually spoke about it publicly on da' K-Drop (quickly Googling K-Drop for possible offensive meanings... looks like the coast is clear.)  There is a good possibility this dreaded sit-down about all things Glyos was just a mental bookmark and never expressed itself in it's ugly glory in blog mention.  Let's rephrase this once more...

I've always had some unpopular opinions about Glyos, but maybe I've never really spoke on them.  I've always wanted to have one big nasty update and cast as much shade and cause as much beef as humanly possible for one jerk blogger.  I've certainly had all the opportunity to, but for a couple reasons I've never prioritized it very high.  If at all possible, I'd rather speak about something I enjoy or something that interests me more.  That's not a whack at Glyos particularly, but I think it's not really my thing, and maybe another reason I don't spit thy venom about it is that I don't think too many K-Droppers (quickly Googling again...) are interested as well.  I don't have the largest reading base in the world, but I like to think the numbers I do get to see behind the curtain are those reflected of people who like the oddball stuff I do.

I understand the appeal, its's just not me.  As a member of this bizarre community, I think it's pretty common to see adults recapture and collect nostalgia from their youths.  Personally, although I vaguely remember having some, Legos were never that big for me.  I never customized or had the desire.  I do distinctly remember packing my pockets full of Monsters In My Pocket for any family excursion and having them fight along the edge of the cup holder in the car door.  It was the portability and secretive nature of pocket-able monsters that I loved.  I had no care if I could never remove The Phantom's mask and put it on a Bishopfish.  They were all interesting and fun characters on their own, and being solid chunks of rubber and plastic made them durable for over-and-over in-and-out of pocket adventures.  I never had the patience to worry about pieces and parts.

But I do see the appeal.  I am at an age where all my friends have young children that are playing with toys.  I visit my nearest friend and his son has his Marvel hero action figures disassembled and remade into new heroes and villains.  There's a Spider-man head on a Captain America body, with one leg Incredible Hulk and the other one Batman.  Batman isn't even Marvel, but for him, that's how it works, and without a doubt in my mind, when this kid grows old enough, something like Glyos will be his jam.  I even have a few Glyos figures in my collection that I am sure will be dropping on his doorstep before too long, so it'll be a start.

Future fans aside, Glyos has tons of fans right now.  I think when you're speaking of niche toy communities, Glyos is up there.  I would argue, at least in America, it's even eclipsing keshi fandom.  This could be because it's an American company and keshi's birthplace is quite a bit further, but Glyos' roots are also entwined with keshi styling.  Keshi are, in purest form, single cast, solid material, and donezo.  Glyos components are single cast, solid material, but then assembled however you see fit.  It's as if Glyos is Voltron, made of all sorts of keshi robot lions, but maybe some are just more fans of the feet.

For their loads of loyal fans, Glyos makes some good stuff.  They've even inspired other independent toy manufacturers to consider action figure variants to their keshis as an expansion to their brands.  October Toys created Skeleton Warriors, LittleRubberGuys created Rise of the Beasts, Spy Monkey Creations made Battle Tribes and others.  Even Mystical Warriors of the Ring made Evolution, and as far as I know, all to success.  Tons of people love this stuff, so much so my hopes of creating an angry, unreasonable, mob were dashed and I reluctantly put the pitchfork back in the shed.  One day, baby girl.  One day.

I can't even say I really dislike the stuff either.  I have plenty of Rise of the Beasts mini-figures, as well as almost every variant of the Mystical Warrior of the Ring Goliath figure.  I can't say I am the strict dictator of this barbarian horde, when I happily house enemies in my own personal collection, but I do wish they were more pure.  Like my unreasonable love of the Trash Pack, I am compromising and getting over the differences, although I can say I'm not diving in head first or waiting in any particular line.

However...  Have you heard of Glyos' Bit Figs yet?

In form I can only best describe as a Dr. Frankenstein mad scientist, laughing and mocking the moon, I manically giggled as I read the release information about Glyos' new adventure and toy line.  Inspired by the classic gumball machine ninjas that stole many of quarter and were partially digested by many of family pet, these little things look to be taking on new lives through a pixelized video game lens.  The truest joy came as description of their Glyos compatibility came almost nonexistent.  Saved by a Glyos hole in their bottoms, these are otherwise pure keshi goodness...

Ahahahahahaha!   Hahahaha!  Haaaaahaaaaa!

I finally got you Glyos!  I held out my pennies and I got you to buckle to make toys the way I demand.  No pieces!  No stinking parts!  Arms and legs moving absolutely nowhere!  Just like the great Keshi Gods in the sky intended!  It's a slug, of course!  Finally, I have you Glyos!  Keshi Drop has held out and we finally won the war!  We reign strong and supreme over the weak articulated joints of those other crap toys!  Sweet, sweet, victory!

But one thing, who do I write this check out to?  Mr. Glyos, okay?

Electric Monarchy's Figure 01 Bukk*ke Review!

Yo!  What's going on, everyone?  Enjoying these brutal heat waves yet?  Yeah, I didn't think so, but that's not why we're hanging out today.  Instead, let's dive into another keshi mini-figure review.

Full disclosure first, because even though I can be both an idiot and a jerk, not always at different times, I want to, at the very least be transparent.  I received this gooey ball of love free of charge from my friends in Germany.  I don't think that particularly affected my opinion in any way, but if you do think it could have, you're entitled to it and proceed with that in mind.  Hopefully you're entertained all the same.

Last month I covered the release of Electric Monarchy's first keshi mini-figure called Bukk*ke.  If you're are somehow the last human connected to the Internet to still be confused by my poor attempts of censorship, pick a vowel and google search it... at home.  Keshi Drop is not held responsible for what you google search on work computers.  But past all that, I encourage you to go back and check out that past article.  I had covered it's release info, but I also briefly mentioned how I really enjoyed something, in concept at least, that pushes the boundaries and makes people feel emotions or take a second look to digest.  And furthermore, can keshi mini-figures be an art platform powerful enough to change a mind or a feeling.  Could someone's mind be changed through keshi?  Could someone be repulsed and then pulled back?  Or aroused and then chilled?  I think there are as many cases in the world as there are people, so I certainly don't have the entire picture, but I wonder if that was the idea all along with Bukk*ke.

Bukk*ke is a two inch Glow In the Dark rubber resin mini-figure designed by Fint, produced by Tru;Tek, and sold through the ArtWhore web-store, but the real question is - does Bukk*ke stand up?  Whatever goals this gross little goop has, does it accomplish them?  Ultimately, I want you to go to the ArtWhore web-store yourself and take away your own opinions, but if you're here for Crazy Uncle SpiderEarth's I won't leave you empty handed.

This figure is solid has hell.  Even at height of two inches, something that's not terribly out of convention, Bukk*ke is a thick beast on all three dimensions.  Slug molded and static, just like the great Keshi Lords wanted, this guy doesn't turn paper thin when posed to the side.  Even without joints and articulation, you can put this monstrosity in a number of lively angles that work just well.  He's just a bulky, sloshing, beast trudging through, no matter how he's displayed.

Some people could say a dripping blob sculpt could leave more to be desired, but I would suggest a closer look.  There's indeed a shape and a character, or at least there once was, but with each step, seemingly another chunk of something wet and loose slips off the frame.  So challenge yourself.  What was it before and what is it after?  Or is there nothing under there at all?  Have you caught yourself interested or intrigued?  Pulled into curiosities surrounding something otherwise disgusting?  Was it the shapely cute character frame or gentle color choice?  Are you now worried you're too far into thinking about a sperm monster and hoping you remember where the mental exit door was?  If so, or something like that, I don't think you're alone at all.

If only Bukk*ke was a tad more subtle, it would be a powerful bait and switch piece, trapping the audience and demanding a reaction before anyone were the wiser, but as it stands now it's a wrecking ball of resin.  Maybe it never wanted to surprise you.  Maybe it wanted to knock down your door and demand your attention.  It was going to be the focal point.  It was going to be the conversation starter and there would be no way around it.  Then after some time, you'll wonder how something like Bukk*ke ruled your day.  You'll just stand there wondering what else Germany has in store, because after Bukk*ke, like me, you're interested.

Super7 Shows Off Street Fighter MUSCLE At SDCC!

Welcome back, everyone!  It's SDCC Weekend, so you know there had to be some reveals coming our way, and that's exactly what we have going on today.

Some months ago, Super7 revealed they were expanding their MUSCLE franchise to other properties other than just He-Man and The Masters of the Universe.  If I remember correctly, they showed card backs for Mega Man, Ghouls and Ghosts, Alien, Robotech, and Street Fighter.  Today we have our first glimpse into this expansion.

If you're a keshi enthusiast on social media, you've probably noticed this glass case was very popular today.  For reasons I am sure you can tell, at the Super7 booth, while selling their trash can and 30 pack sets of MOTU MUSCLE, they were showing off previews of their Street Fighter line.

These look really nice, I have to say, and not because they are pink slugs, of course, but look at the proportions.  They are much stalkers and thicker than the Masters of the Universe mini-figures, who find some criticism for being a bit too small and wiggly.  Classically posed and reminiscent of Kinnikuman in almost every way, if Super7 doesn't cast a wider net with these, I have no idea what will.

MWOTR Kansas City Comic Con Goliath and Title Belt Reveal!

Hey, everyone!  Just popping on real quick with some new information that I found rather interesting, and as it turns out, to be a slew of Mystical Warriors of the Ring reveals for KCCC.

Happening a little further away from San Diego and a little later, Kansas City Comic Con will be seeing the crew from Mystical Warriors of the Ring coming out in full-swing.

Lucky attendants to KCCC will be getting first whack at what the MWOTR crew has teased as two new Goliath variants, as well as some first looks at the Barker referee minifigure in the works as well as the championship titles in the works.  There's quite a lot in the pipe right now from these guys and I would not be surprised if we heard some word of what it all means sometime later this year.

Super7 Reveals Retro MOTUSCLE 24 Packs!

I had a feeling, the last time I was chatting about Super7, that the rainbow trash bin set was not the only thing we will be seeing from them.  In the last few days, the keshi world has exploded with the news of their latest reveal for SDCC: their retro-inspired 24 packs of Masters of the Universe MUSCLE mini-figures in yellow or green.

Speaking of which, is the MOTUSCLE brand name dead?  It's not a big issue either way, I just have no idea and just noticing it now with these packages.

This set is drop dead amazing, pulled straight out of the 80's.  Even the art is almost exactly the same, except the He-Man characters replacing the Kinnikuman cast.  The price tag is not a bad one either, You get 24 minis and a very collectible box for $45, and at that rate, it's just under two whammies a piece which is not bad at all.

Of course though, they are debuting in Skeletor's Lair, and I'll save you from repeating myself about my thoughts on that.  If you're curious, just a few posts ago I rattled off about that subject, so check it out if that sounds like your thing.  But with the inclusion of the web-store address below, it looks like they will be mass produced and available there in time.

So far, this looks like an awesome set and another awesome showcase from Super7.  We'll see when the days come and pass, but it look like, despite the shade for the Skeletor's Lair stuff, the SDCC Champions just might retain.
