Rise of the Beasts Misses Goal + Other Woes!

As some people may already know, the amount of funding Rise of the Beasts was aiming for on Kickstarter for their second series did not succeed.  It was quite the hefty amount, but there was a ton of value in the project, and I could have sworn there would have been enough support.  Maybe this one could have been chalked up to the high goal, but the latest OMFG Kickstarter succeeded with a very similar one.  I don't know.  I'm kind of scratching my head with this one, and bummed out.

Also, from my previous post, I was hoping the two teased Punk Drunker collaboration figures would be keshi mini-figures.  Maybe it was false hope or maybe a long shot, but indeed, they were sofubi vinyl and a let down for my particular tastes.

And finally, where is October Toys and Toy Break?  I know they have recently enjoyed a tour around Japan, but aside on little snippets here and there on Instagram, we really haven't really seen or heard from them in full-force since Christmas.  This is even more peculiar considering this time last year was their 24 Hour Toy Break event that's always fun for fans and collectors.  I'm sure everything is fine, but it's still a bummer so little is happening.

So, it's been a lackluster late winter/early spring for 2016, but hopefully that changes very soon!  Let's stay patient and optimistic!

Rise of the Beasts Series 2 Kickstater is LIVE!

Hey, guys!  It's an exciting day, for sure, in the keshi world.  Many collectors have been patiently waiting for this day to come, and finally, as promised, the Rise of the Beasts Series 2 Kickstarter is officially live!

Designed by the crew at LittleRubberGuys, long-time readers will remember my coverage of Series 1 and how I really attribute it to broadening my standards on fundamental keshi.  At a time when I felt I had more stricter views on arbitrary things, I was pleasantly surprised how quickly my tune changed when I curiously ordered Series 1.  It was a great set, no doubt, and really had me second-guessing to what a perfect keshi mini-figure had to adhere to, especially when these guys are so clearly inspired by classic Battle Beasts and not necessarily MUSCLE.

Now, Rise of the Beasts are going all out.  Doubling their series size from two minis to four, it doesn't stop just there with quantity.  Flesh tone, Glow in the Dark, and painted versions are all available, as well handful of extra deadly weapons to equip them with.  Literally, for twenty bones, you're all set.  You'll get whole complete set in flesh, some weapons, and you'll be helping out some really awesome independent artists do what they enjoy doing.

And there are tons more!  Check out the link below to check it all out and to back this project!

Rise of Beast Series Two Kickstarter Coming Soon!

What really can be said about the guys at LittleRubberGuys, that already hasn't been said before?  When we're talking about the keshi community and all of it's collectors, LittleRubberGuys has to be brought up as one, if not the flagship, community site and forum for everyone to get together and share about their love for small rubber mini-figures.

But it doesn't just stop there.  Not only is it a site for trading, a launching pad for countless independent artists, and community news, but they produce their very own mini-figures called Rise of the Beasts, but hopefully, if you're here, you already know that.

Long time readers will recall the production notes and updates I've covered, and I can't be any more excited to say that, released over social media, LittleRubberGuys announced that the Kickstarter to get these prototypes through production will be set-up very soon!  I'm even thinking we will have a definitive date in less than a week's time as well.

What will the Kickstarter entail and what sort of extra goodies will be there?  I have no idea right now, but I am just as excited as you to find out.  I'll certainly be sharing what I find out here, but for more Rise of the Beast goodness, check out the LRG forums by clicking the link below.

Rise of the Beasts Komodo Dragon Prototype!

The guys at LittleRubberGuys are always hard at work.  With even their Series 2 launch still being produced, they have their eyes locked on the future, already working on whats next.

This image is a virtual 3D sculpt of a working Komodo Dragon character, and you can tell right away, it follows closer proportions to the Battle Beasts toy line that Rise of the Beasts takes much of their inspiration from.

Although having a few figures, I have never really been into Battle Beasts all that much, but that's nothing to say they have one of the largest toy collecting communities out there.  There is a lot people out there, thrilled to see this character a little stockier than previous ROTB characters, like the classic toy line, and I actually enjoy this look too.

I think I never got into Battle Beasts because of the paint, which I'm rather confident it won't be an issue with future characters out of this awesome toy line.  When Series 2 comes out, I'll certainly be following close to this guy's production.  Maybe there will be slug-molded variants as well.

Looking Good, ROTB!

LittleRubberGuys sent out what I can only assume to be super important press-only email, because sometime I like to feel that special too, giving a glimpse of new retooled and reworked Rise of the Beasts minifigures.

The lot has seen many adjustments and alterations, from the ant characters antenna to the lizard man's tail, and I think they look damn good and ready for print, but I'm sure I am being a bit too impatient.

The new series will see weapons for the characters too, just not included in the picture, along with a new variant scorpion head, you know, cause just collecting all the colorways wasn't hardcore enough!

I'm really excited for these guys, and I think they will be hitting the LRG web store before too long, so keep your eyes open and your ears to the ground.

New Rise Of The Beasts Update!

The LittleRubberGuys team have been working diligently on all their new characters coming to the Rise of the Beasts line.  Despite the fact they are putting out twice as many amazing minifigures than the first wave, progress looks to be going really well.

Released on their Instagram account, these photos give a great inside look to see how well these cool guys are coming along, but keep in mind, these are still in prototype stages.

One thing to note here is that the ant character has had some serious work done to him.  In it's initial stages, it had longer, thinner, antennae, but it seems the team had to complications with that.  I like the bulkier look they have now, however I feel that a large ant abdomen and/or an extra set of arms would have really made the ant character stand out as this sort of exotic insect warrior.

The lizard character has been seeing some work too.  His tail has been fine tuned and worked into having Glyos pegging.

But there's also a couple other characters to look forward to seeing as well, like the lion character and the gorilla character, not to mention, this wave of minifigures will also see our first parts of weaponry.

ROTB Army Green Drop!

Another awesome drop is right around the corner!

The artists over at LittleRubberGuys have been teasing their Army Green variants of their Series 1 Rise of the Beasts minifigures, and now we have a set date and time for their arrival.

Tomorrow, Thursday the 29th, at 7pm PST these guys will be available to purchase, both in painted and unpainted goodness, in what I am sure will be limited quantities.

If you followed the recent release of Goliath from Mystical Warriors of the Ring, you'll know it took only hours after their release on their website for that guy to sell completely out.  That's more common than you expect.  These are independent artists releasing high-quality minifigures in small batches.  There is simply no room in this community to wait.  You have to mark drop dates on a calendar and jump on the opportunity to get what you want before you potentially lose it forever.

These Series 1 figures came out in a variety of colorways the first time they were released, and still, some miniatures in some variants sold out.  This drop is one color way, so you have to imagine, like Goliath, this is going to be quite the competitive release.  These guys may not be available much longer than a couple hours after their initial drop, so make sure you're in it to win it.

Don't let this classic green army beasts pass you by!  Click this link down here and push your way to the front of the line!
